Dr. Anthony Campo

Medical Director, Caron Florida
MD, FAPA, FASAM
Caron Renaissance in FL

As medical director for Caron Renaissance and Ocean Drive, Dr. Campo oversees the medical department. The department has grown to include a child and adolescent psychiatrist, addiction medicine physician, advance practice registered nurse in family medicine, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, a neuropsychologist, two neurofeedback technicians and a neurofeedback lab, medical coordinator, and department administrator. This enables the department to offer a full array of medical, psychiatric, psychological, and neurocognitive assessment and treatment.

His treatment philosophy includes a neuro-psychiatric approach taking into account the toxic effects of substance use on the brain and cognition. Dr. Campo is a strong advocate of early and accurate diagnosis and treatment of co-occurring disorders, believing they play an essential role in achieving and maintaining a sober and healthful lifestyle.

He is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He is board certified by both the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, Florida Psychiatric Society, Palm Beach Psychiatric Society, New York Psychiatric Society, and American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry. He is on the faculty for the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s Live Fundamentals of Addiction Medicine workshops. He has lectured in New York, Florida, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on addiction and co-occurring disorders and has appeared on Fox’s Good Morning America.

He has worked at Caron since June 2012. Previously, he was the medical director at The Dunes East Hampton, Alternatives in Treatment Southampton and medical director of Psychiatric Emergency Services at Jersey City Medical Center and Psychiatric Emergency Access Center at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center. He was associate medical director at Gracie Square Hospital in New York City. He was also an associate professor of clinical psychiatry at State University of New York at Stony Brook.
