As a behavioral health therapist for the Men's Program, Melissa Altman provides individual and group therapy, alongside case management and communication with patients’ families and referents. Her goal is to create a safe environment that enables patients to be open and agreeable to change.
Melissa elicits that behavioral change by addressing non-constructive thought patterns. Once her patients recognize those patterns, Melissa can work with them to identify and understand their own capability to reclaim their lives and move into a healthy recovery.
She has worked as a behavioral health therapist at Caron since the beginning of 2023. She came to Caron as an intern in 2022 and worked in the Young Adults Program until she got her master’s degree. She then took a position in the Student Assistance Program, providing prevention education programs in schools for several months.
Melissa has a Master of Science in addiction counseling from Drexel University, Philadelphia, and two Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice and sociology from Arcadia University, Glenside, Pennsylvania.
