Caron Treatment Centers Appoints New Medical Director and Associate Medical Director
The nonprofit also added a new Clinical Supervisor of Teen and Young Adult programs and a new Staff Physician
Wernersville, PA – July 21, 2021 – Caron Treatment Centers, an internationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to addiction and behavioral healthcare treatment, research, prevention, and addiction medicine education, announced the following appointments: Dr. Adam Scioli,
DO, FASAM, DFAPA, to Medical Director and Head of Psychiatry, Dr. Ming Wang, M.D., FASAM, to Associate Medical Director, Dr. Christopher Grant, Psy.D., to Clinical Supervisor of Teen and Young Adult Male Services, and Dr. Tory Snyder, DO, to Staff Physician.
“I’m really excited about Caron’s powerhouse medical team,” said Brad Sorte, who stepped into the role of President and CEO in July. “Not only does our staff have immense talent, but they also have tremendous empathy, compassion and an understanding of the science behind substance use disorder that makes a substantial difference in successful outcomes.”
Dr. Scioli has worked for Caron since July of 2015, overseeing the psychiatric needs of adult patients.
He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his psychiatry residency training at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia where he was Chief Resident for two years and was conferred the title of Distinguished Laughlin Fellow for professional achievement, dedication, and scholarship. Dr. Scioli simultaneously completed fellowship training through the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia, where his work focused on the relationship between addiction and attachment.

Dr. Scioli is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American Board of Preventive Medicine (Addiction Medicine), and the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine). He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Scioli is a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Osteopathic Academy of Addiction Medicine.

Dr. Wang is an addiction medicine physician. He oversees Caron’s Detox, Chronic Pain Programs and nursing staff. He also serves as Medical Director for the Grand View and Older Adults Programs. Additionally, Dr. Wang is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Penn State College of Medicine and a faculty member of the Caron – Reading Hospital Addiction Medicine Fellowship where he teaches residents and medical students.
Dr. Wang is a diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine, the American Board of Anesthesiology, and the American Board of Preventive Medicine - Addiction Medicine Specialty. He is a fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the Pennsylvania Society of Addiction Medicine.

Dr. Grant oversees behavioral health for the adolescent and young adult treatment continuum at Caron Pennsylvania. He also serves as a liaison for family members and referents with patients in treatment at Caron. He is a licensed psychologist with 15 years of experience in behavioral health with a professional focus on general psychological services for adults and children (ages 14+) with experience in treating individuals with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, phase of life adjustment, and trauma histories.
Dr. Grant previously worked as an adjunct professor of psychology at Franklin and Marshall College, teaching courses on general psychology, trauma, and psychopathology. He has a Doctorate in Psychology focused on counseling psychology from Carlow University in Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Science in psychology as well as a Master of Arts in counseling from Geneva College.

Dr. Snyder joined Caron in 2021 as a staff physician, after completing her year-long addiction medicine fellowship at Caron and Tower Health. Board certified in emergency medicine, she was an attending physician at Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw, Michigan, from 2004 until 2020. In addition to treating patients, she supervised and taught Central Michigan University’s emergency medicine residents and medical students.
As an ER doctor, she gained extensive expertise in diagnosis, prevention, evaluation, and treatment and developed a working knowledge of trauma and its effects. She is adept at dealing compassionately and constructively with patients and their family members and working collaboratively with them and her medical colleagues.
