Caron Treatment Centers Announces Board of Trustees Updates and Emeriti Elections
Honoring extraordinary service and expanding Caron’s leadership for the future
Wernersville, PA – September 19, 2025— Caron Treatment Centers, an internationally recognized nonprofit leader in addiction and behavioral healthcare treatment, research, prevention, and addiction medicine education, is proud to announce updates to its Board of Trustees, including the election of several new members, the appointment of longstanding leaders to Trustee Emeritus roles, and a warm acknowledgment of outgoing trustees whose terms have concluded.
Chairs Emeriti Elections – May 2025
In May 2025, the Caron Board of Trustees honored five dedicated leaders with Chair Emeritus status in recognition of their extraordinary service, commitment, and personal connection to Caron’s mission.
- Dan Huyett – A 37-year supporter of Caron, Dan brings a multigenerational connection to the organization, following in the footsteps of his father, Caron’s first attorney and board chair. He currently serves on the Governance, Treatment, and Audit, Compliance and Risk Management Committees. “My family grew up with the Caron family, and so I knew from a young age just how important Caron is to our community,” said Huyett. “And when our family needed Caron, Caron was right there. So, serving on -- and later chairing -- the Caron Board was the least I could do as payback to Caron. I am thrilled to be honored as Chair Emeritus, following in my father’s footsteps.”
- Michael J. McGlinn – With more than 38 years of leadership, Mike is a former Chair of the Caron Board and recipient of the Richard J. Caron Award of Excellence. His tenure included expanding Caron’s programs and geographic reach, including the Florida Ocean Drive and Young Adult programs. “I am truly honored to be elected to emeritus status on the Board,” said McGlinn. “Serving alongside such dedicated and visionary colleagues, both board members and management, has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together in service of our mission and grateful for the relationships developed over the past three decades. My commitment to Caron remains strong and I look forward to staying connected and supporting its continued success in any way I can.”
- Steve Esser – A dedicated Caron board member for more than 30 years, Steve is the retired CEO of a family printing business and has contributed significantly through his work on governance, audit, and planned giving initiatives. As a small business owner, he supported Caron by ensuring employees struggling with addiction received the care they needed—demonstrating compassionate leadership. “It is a great honor being elected to the position of Chair Emeritus,” said Esser. “It has been my privilege to help guide Caron from a regional alcohol treatment facility to a world leader in the treatment of the disease of addiction. Caron and the good work that we do will always be in my heart and memories.”
- Ben Zintak – As a 32-year Caron Board member who served as Board Chair for five years, Ben has championed innovation, quality outcomes, and compassionate care. His deep commitment is driven by both family legacy and personal passion for Caron’s mission, and it was recognized with the Richard J. Caron Award of Excellence. In 2018, the NAATP awarded Ben the Dr. Jasper Chen See Volunteer Leadership Award, for his exceptional volunteer leadership in addiction treatment. “Serving Caron for over 30 years has been inspirational, educational and maybe my most fulfilling life experience,” said Zintak. “Nothing feels better than being part of an organization helping individuals and families during a traumatically difficult time. It was also a special part of my life to work with so many talented and dedicated staff and board members. I learned a lot. Caron has given so much to me, and I am so grateful.”
Trustee Emeritus Election – May 2025
- Ed Dealy – An alumnus of Caron since 1983 and a former head of Caron Florida’s board, Ed brings a unique perspective from both personal recovery and executive leadership in the chemical industry. “Caron saved my life and helped me reach 83 years in good health, while also making a lasting difference in my son’s life,” Dealy said. “ Serving on the Board of Trustees for 23 years has been a rewarding experience that fostered my personal growth and allowed me to give back to an organization I deeply believe in. Being named Trustee Emeritus is a meaningful honor that lets me continue supporting Caron’s leadership in addiction treatment.”

Caron also acknowledges with deep appreciation the following individuals who were elected to Emeritus status earlier this year:
- Janice Miller – Chair Emerita
