Dr. Taryn Jaramillo
As Ocean Drive’s clinical director, Taryn Jaramillo sees her ultimate responsibility as restoring hope, health, and relationships for Ocean Drive patients and their families.
She works toward that goal by providing oversight, supervision, and support for Ocean Drive’s clinical staff, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality, evidence-based, compassionate care.
Prior to coming to Caron in 2022, Taryn served for almost 12 years with the Department of Veterans Affairs-Miami VA Healthcare System as the Broward County Mental Health Social Work Supervisor overseeing four outpatient clinics. She supervised a staff of clinicians who provided care for veterans with PTSD, substance use disorder, and a range of mental health issues.
During her tenure, she developed several process improvements and best practices to improve mental health services and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. For example, she led a task force to improve the patient referral process, creating a triage system to streamline the assessment process and ensure veterans received the services and care they needed as quickly as possible. Taryn also has considerable experience in interdisciplinary and cross-agency collaboration and in building resource networks within the therapeutic community. Taryn invested heavily in staff development during her time with the VA, participating in training, career development, and mentoring clinicians as they progressed toward their career goals.
She is a licensed clinical social worker and is certified in cognitive processing therapy for trauma (CPT-T), integrative behavioral couples therapy (IBCT), primary care mental health integration (PCMHI) model, and as a clinical hypnotherapist. She is a Level I yoga instructor and trained in mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques. She has also served as a graduate-level adjunct instructor at Florida Atlantic University.
She also brings considerable business acumen to her role with 20 years of experience in the real estate and hospitality industries.
Taryn has a Doctor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work from Florida Atlantic University as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana.
