As a primary therapist at Caron Ocean Drive, Maggie Doolan helps patients resolve issues underlying compulsive behavior, develop skills to manage symptoms or overwhelming emotions, communicate effectively, and develop a holistic plan for recovery.

Her style of therapy is direct but authentic and warm; her treatment approach is eclectic and patient-centered.

Prior to her work at Caron, which began in 2016, Maggie was in successful private practice. She primarily treated individuals and the families of young adults with a complex combination of chemical dependency or process addiction, trauma history, mood disorders, and personality disorders. She was also the supervisor for an in-home family services program, lead therapist at a substance abuse treatment facility, and primary therapist for a mental health facility. Maggie has provided clinical supervision for doctoral candidates and for people seeking licensure. She was featured on "Divorce Connections" as an expert on co-parenting during divorce and has spoken at several universities.

Maggie has been a licensed clinical social worker for over 18 years, with a master’s degree in clinical social work from Radford University. Maggie completed an internship at the Veteran’s Affairs hospital in Salem, Virginia. She has had training in the areas of trauma and PTSD, personality disorders, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and internal family systems therapy. Her style of therapy is direct but authentic and supportive, and her treatment approach is eclectic and patient-centered.
