Seen, Heard, and Celebrated: Recovery in the LGBTQ+ Community

Navigating Treatment; Recovery and the Family

July 15th at 7-8:15pm on Zoom

Panelists: Bethany Koch, MSW, CAADC, MED, LSW Dr. Michael Hinkley, PhD, LADC Sara Counes CAP, ICADC

Facilitator: Chrissie Phillips Ramos and Aly Ries

This panel of clinical experts will discuss key considerations of their work with individuals identifying as LGBTQ+ and their families in treatment for Substance Use Disorder. The panelists will highlight what families can look for when seeking support for their loved one, speaking about signature components of a treatment program focused on LGBTQ+ patients. By ensuring that families and persons seeking recovery have an educated understanding of what questions to ask their providers, and examples of solutions geared towards this specific population, we are able to address one of many hurdles – how to start the process of supportive recovery. This virtual event is open to all interested alumni, family members, friends, and professionals. The Velvet Rage by Alan Downes, PhD will be used as a supplement to this presentation. All registrants will be provided with a copy.
