My time at Caron was transformative. I attended Caron because sobriety seemed absolutely impossible. I detoxed for three weeks with massive support; I don’t think I could have stuck out almost any other program. The staff personalized my program to fit my circumstances despite there being forty other patients, perhaps seventy cycling in and out in total. I can’t recommend Caron enough to anyone with substance abuse disorder.

After speaking to multiple facilities that turned me off I immediately knew Caron was different when I spoke to them. They listened, and they met me where I was. The support and employees were world class and felt like family by the time I was leaving. Caron will change your life.

The Caron Treatment Center really helped me on my path to sobriety and I cannot thank all the staff enough. There were points I did not think I could make it through treatment, but with the help of the staff and peers, they helped me reach a point where I can say I am happy to be sober. The YAMP (Young Adult Male Program) was a great fit for me. Although I was on the upper side of the age range for the unit, everyone was focused on getting help. I came into the unit knowing strangers, but left with a band of brothers… a family.
The staff here really does care about everyone here. There are plenty of resources here that I wish I took part of but could not, simply because I did not have enough time to do so. Again thank you to everyone here at Caron for helping me start my path to recovery. I think of everyone here as part of my family!

Caron does itself a disservice by downplaying its expertise in pain management. I was able to kick my prescribed pain opiate, and due to all of Caron’s expertise, my pain levels never increased. In fact, the frequency of pain breakthrough events actually declined. If you are taking opiates for chronic pain, and want to stop but are afraid of the pain, then Caron Pennsylvania is the best option for you!!!!

My experience at Caron has been extraordinary and life changing for me. The professionalism and expertise is the most effective care I have ever experienced. The variety of therapeutic care and introduction to supplemental or in place of AA or NA was outstanding, and in my case, I plan to try out both Dharma and SMART Money as a supplement to my commitment to the AA steps and process to remain sober and engaged.

I am so happy and grateful for this opportunity, and already have made contact with other Caron alum in my area. I love the concept of a closed meeting in order to make contacts in the area, and look forward to participating in local and regional events.

Special shout outs to Megan, my therapist, who piloted me with genuine care and her experience with women in relapse. Also to the dedicated nursing and BHT staff, the courteous drivers and conscientious food personnel.

I would recommend anyone in need of treatment at any level to pursue Caron’s care.

Some of the staff here are very professional, and I’d like to take the time to shout them out. BHT Macaroni, Emily, Jess, and Jake. But one staff member in particular (BHT) went above and beyond in my eyes. Mark aka (Macaroni) working over on YAMP, is the most genuine caring soul I have found here at Caron. He actually cares about what you are going through and has connected with me in numerous ways. His kind attitude and advice has helped guide me through this program, and I honestly would have left long ago without his wisdom. He’s not the reason I stayed, but his insight is definitely a huge factor. He knows we are struggling, and knows how to be real and personal with us about our issues, while still showing immense kindness. If kids are struggling, (including me), he will take us for walks away from toxic situations and help us find the route to our problems. This man can read the room and feel a vibe from a mile away. He’s professional with his work, and there has never been a doubt in my mind that he isn’t here for us. I have personally seen this Gentleman take each and every young man here for a private walk for a chance to connect, and help us find the route of the problems we are facing. He doesn’t complain about being tired, if you are struggling he will help you no matter what. Even if he’s walked the loop 25 times, he will still make time for you, because I actually know he cares about each and every one of us. I look up to him in so many ways, and I am so grateful to have met him. There has never been a moment I’ve seen him lose his cool or composure when all hell breaks loose. (Unit acting up). Instead he continues to help calm, and resolve situations in a manner I hope I can myself some day, IF anyone in this company deserves a raise, it is this Gentleman. He is valuable, he is a gem to this community, and i’ll never forget him and the effect he had on my sobriety.

My experience at Caron was profound and exceeded all expectations. The clinical team in the men’s relapse group created a treatment plan and aftercare plan specific to my needs. The I am leaving here hopeful and excited for long term sobriety.

I was very pleased with my experience at Caron. I was at my last wits when I arrived at Caron and I was greeted with open caring arms.

From the time that I made that first very scary call to my last appointments and day at Caron I was met with nothing but hope and healing. Debbie Smith my intake coordinator I feel changed my life from the first time that I talked with her! I feel she is the reason I came to Caron. It was difficult for me to make that first call and when I heard the compassion and care in her voice I knew that this was where I needed to be to heal.

The nurses in the detox unit were amazing especially Michelle! If it weren’t for her I think that I would have left that first day and I’m being totally honest, I was very scared, sick, and unsure and she made it feel like this is where I needed to be. Thank you Michell.

My unit was well, life-changing from the first moment that I walked into that big old house up on the hill. I met wonderful people, amazing therapists and the BHT’s were so caring and always had time to talk. Peter always knew when I needed an ear and always gave me the support and encouragement that I needed. My counselor Matt understood me and made it so not difficult to understand and accept my illness and the treatment plan set before me, he was always available and very helpful and I appreciated that so much. Vanessa my family counselor helped me so much with getting my family to feel comfortable with understanding this awful disease that I have and I really respect and appreciate her so much.

In closing I would have to say that if I do relapse, which I don’t plan on doing, I would definitely come back, and that’s saying a lot.

I had no idea what to expect when I came to Caron. My niece and my sister’s son in law were here and a friend of mine – I attended Chapel at those times and was so fulfilled with the whole service. The staff, from day one, were so kind and sensitive – making my stay easier. The other patients II met, several of which became dear friends, helped to make my stay here life altering. I have never been so honest about my drinking and overeating in my life. No one seemed horrified – just accepting and loving. The room was more than sufficient and I got used to sharing a bathroom – that’s growth for me!! The medical care and P.T. and massage were beyond what I had expected. The groups were right on point. Matt, my counselor, was able to talk to me about spiritual beliefs that are important to me (Buddhism, Native American 12 Steps) All in all, my greatest gift to myself was my month at Caron.

This place is a great example of a love hate relationship. At the time of arrival, you hate pretty much everything and everyone depending on your substance use history. There are so many hard changes you have to become accustomed to but they make you change so much. I often related my rehab experience to growing pains. Yeah they suck when you’re having them but you’re taller because of it in a metaphorical sense. I am eternally grateful for Caron Pennsylvania as it allowed me to begin the long process of sobriety the right way. Also, the food is ridiculously good and the staff is competent and caring. If you’re a young adult/teen like me reading this just know it’s worth every second being here and you will be so glad you came.

Just wanted to start out by saying the Caron Foundation saved my life. It was March 1st, 2016 when I walked through their doors. I had a raging opioid and benzodiazepine addiction. This was my first time entering any type of treatment. I had been using substances for 11 years at this point. Although this was one of the hardest things I ever had to do, the staff was one of the major reasons I stayed. They genuinely cared. The strict schedule once entering the unit helped take my mind off of the physical and mental pain. They walk with you during your time there and try their best to set you up for success once completion. I will never forget my time spent at Caron and I am thankful for them showing me the way to live a new life.

Grandview at Caron has been an exceptional experience for me. Everyone has been so caring, professional, kind, knowledgeable and hardworking. Paul was an incredible therapist. I couldn’t have asked for a greater, more caring, brilliant and empathetic person to counsel me for recovery. The BHT’s were all beyond helpful, caring, so quick to respond to any request, driving to appointments, reminding you about appointments and your schedule. They were all exceptional at their jobs. Shelly, Noraiky, Dennis, Sara and Brianna really stood out for me. I loved Sara, Merideth, Dr. I, Dr. Eric Heffelfinger and , Jackie G., all brilliant and kind, compassionate and made life-changing moments to help me with my sobriety. The only therapist that I didn’t feel comfortable with was Kris. I found him to be cold, sarcastic and judgmental. Everyone else I came in contact with was beyond exceptional.

Caron Treatment Center left me with a broader perspective on my life. With amazing staff, savory food, and an aesthetically pleasing living setting, it’s truly a fantastic experience when you settle in and get comfortable with yourself here. The most important thing I found helped me the most in my treatment, was honesty. Being honest with myself, the BHT’s, and the other patients here really created a friendly environment surrounding the pinnacles of growth. Even if I broke a rule, or felt myself engaging in relapse behavior, I would tell on myself and keep myself in check. THAT was the most important thing to me in Caron, honesty. Keeping an open mind and being kind and compassionate to others also helped create a really positive community. Remember, the most important person in Caron is YOU! Putting myself and my recovery first truly opened my eyes to a greater lifestyle that I previously didn’t know existed; anyone can do it if they take the right steps.

Caron was an amazing, surprising and humbling experience. As someone who came to treatment for the first time at age 39, I really had no idea what to expect. Although I do not want to come back (as a patient), I will miss Caron and “Magic Mountain” greatly, and I’m confident this place not only helped save my life, but will prove to have helped set me up for a new and better life with the 2nd chance I’ve been given by coming here. I am beyond grateful for my time here, from beginning to end. Caron feels like Home to me now, I’m not sure I really even want to leave. Special shout out to the OTP Unit and All of the Staff there that are literally saving and changing lives. I have only Love and Gratitude for Caron. If you or anyone you know is struggling with any form of addiction, give yourself a break and give yourself a chance, and Call Caron. For real.

I have a tremendous amount of gratitude for Caron as a whole, but in particular for the support and care I received during my two-month stay as I began my journey of recovery.

I had a lot of work to do as a person coming into treatment for the first time at 46 years old; 29 years of abusing substances does not get fixed overnight. While at Caron I learned about the disease of addiction and the reasons why I used alcohol and drugs to cope. This was integral to my recovery. Through ignorance, denial, and fear I was not completely convinced I had a problem; I simply hadn’t found the right mixture of substances or the right timetable to live a manageable life. I had developed a lifetime of unhealthy coping mechanisms and my life was spiraling out of control. Through hard work at the direction of my amazing therapist and treatment team in the Grand View program, I dug deep to do the soul work and learned skills to help me maintain sobriety.

I am forever and truly grateful for my experience at Caron. On the day I surrendered I made a call to a trusted friend in the field and asked her to refer me to the best in alcohol and drug treatment. I fully comprehend why she replied, “Hands down, you will go to Caron.” Words could never adequately describe how grateful I am for the staff and programming at Caron. You saved my life and taught me an easier, softer way to live life.

I would like to especially thank certain staff for their dedication and attention during my stay at Caron Pennsylvania Campus. BHT Staff especially; Michelle 2nd shift, Jess(tall, long red Hair, 1st shift), Lorraine first shift, Amy Second shift YAW, Peggy Nursing staff, Maria Nursing Staff, Frannie Nursing Staff, Larry 3rd Shift, Steph 2nd shift, Sarah 2nd shift, and Jenny Lynn. Megan McGlauglin, Rochelle, Christin (Tina), Denise and ALL the secretaries at Neag. Doctor Fournier and Doctor St. James. and last but not least Stephanie Berlin.

All of these Staff members really went above and beyond to make my stay here an overall great experience. When the addict in me wanted to quit they chose to stick by me. They always encouraged me to keep on going, ever reminding me of what a good person I was becoming. With their continued support I was at a place to finally be able to not only see but also feel the changes and growth I was making throughout my stay here at Caron. I can only begin to repay their kindness by continuing to grow spiritually and eventually by passing down the experience, strength, and hope that was instilled in me. I was able to build the trust with myself and eventually with all of the staff listed above because they nurtured and believed in me before I did. I cannot thank you all enough for the love and support you gave me and I found myself saying to my peers on many occasions that the magic of the mountain was no longer a myth yet became my truth. Thank you all so much!

Top-notch facility, full of people who actually care. They want you to get better and that much is quite evident throughout your stay at Caron. A giant shoutout to Dr. Ashley Flor, who balanced my mental health here, quite possibly saving my life. I will forever be grateful to her and the Caron Foundation.

My experience at Caron greatly exceeded expectations and my families expectations. The staff truly cares and provide an extremely high level of care both evidence based and spiritually.

On March 11, 2024, I will be celebrating my 40th year of sobriety, thanks to the wonderful staff and advisors at Caron, called " Chit- chat" when I was a resident there. I'd been in AA for a year but was unable to maintain my sobriety so decided to go to Wernersville. I still remember the day I arrived, and seeing that funny- looking old building on the hill and wondering if that place could help me get my life back.

As a middle- aged mother of three, I mainly drank alone, hiding my drinks in coffee cups and smuggling the bottles out in my needlework bag. Now, at 88, I just published my first novel and am working on my second. How can one possibly express gratitude for such a gift? The gift of a life WELL- LIVED, not mired in the darkness and hopelessness of alcohol. Thank you, Caron, and keep up the good work.

Addiction is a scary word when you are unaware of the situation, lack knowledge or know the full story. Our family fell victim to this scary disease. Scared, hopeless and very clueless, my husband entered rehab May 2022. Left behind with 2 young boys, I handed him over to this place in PA and prayed for the best. We were told "he was in the best hands." Guidance, feeling safe, and full of knowledge is how i feel today. Caron guided us in the right direction. Paved the path of success for my husband and our family. He spent 35 days at Caron and they became our family. They supported not only him but my boys and I. They opened our eyes to much more than a scary word. They made us feel hopeful. They made us feel safe. Caron was a stepping stone for my husband to overcome his addiction and learn all the proper tools to move forward in life when stepping back into the outside world. Caron also guided me and my family with family support groups and a family weekend so we also had the correct tools when coming back together. We wouldn't be where we are today without Caron. It takes teamwork! Happy to report my husband is 20 months sober today and an even better father, husband and friend than he was before! I am proud to call him my husband. Thank you, Caron!

One of the greatest assets that Caron provides their patients is the friendliness, care and genuine love they show themselves and most importantly their patients. The professionalism, personal sobriety journeys, and knowledge is front and center across all positions.

I had a “Healing Experience” on Magic Mountain and for that I will be eternally grateful.

I have been in several other in patient treatment facility program at Caron was extremely comprehensive that I finally feel that as long as I put in the work that was suggested to me that I can stay sober this time. I always thought I could stay sober on my own but failed every time. Caron’s program helped me identify other areas in my past and present life that could have contributed to my many relapses. I would highly recommend The Caron Foundation for anyone looking for an excellent treatment program

Caron is the gold standard for addiction recovery, in my opinion. From the assessment and admissions process, to residential recovery programs to on-going after care recommendations and programming, Caron provides a comprehensive approach to helping those struggling with addiction. The facilities are first rate, staff (from food service to housekeeping to clinical) are deeply committed to each patient’s comfort and success. Because many, if not all, are recovering addicts there is a level of authenticity and commitment to a common outcome — that patients get better here and leave equipped with the tools to stay sober.

I attended Caron’s inpatient program in Pennsylvania for one month in 2023. I was part of the Relapse Women’s community, which I found to be very supportive, close-knit, and mature. This was my second inpatient treatment experience, and I found services and programming at Caron to be overall superior to my prior experience elsewhere. I appreciated the specialized programming such as the Trauma and Chronic Pain tracks. I was also thankful to have the option to have physical therapy and acupuncture onsite. Overall, I would highly recommend this program to other women struggling with addiction and relapse.

A couple of adjustments to the training of staff is all. Other than that very specific to each person and a good handful of the staff really care and want to see success in their patients and truly have a desire to help people in the same situations they were in.

The treatment I received at Caron was EXCEPTIONAL, and I would highly recommend the facility to anyone struggling with addiction. The staff is very knowledgeable, courteous and always willing to go the extra mile for its patients. God forbid I ever relapse, I will be on the first flight I can get to come back.

My stay at Caron was life changing. Every staff member was extremely kind and passionate. I will never forget my time here and am so thankful I had the opportunity to come here. My counselor Ryan was fantastic and I owe him so much credit towards my recovery. Pape Joe in the physical fitness center was amazing and I always looked forward to talking to him when I was at the gym. The BHT’s in my unit were great and I will always remember them and how much they cared for us. Overall, my time here was amazing and I will always be so grateful for Caron and how much it helped me start my recovery.

Looking back on my life, I have come to the realization that I was inflicted with the disease of addiction from early childhood. I started young, and partied hard. But it was not until I broke my leg and got prescribed percocet that my true struggles began. Coming to Caron, I was a broken man, 4 rehabs in the past 15 years of my life. I wanted to die. I found the strength and will to live here. I came kicking and screaming, but by the end, I did not want to leave. Caron is special, and unlike any facility I have ever stayed in. The power of this community is indescribable. We lift each other up and watch over each other. The therapists, doctors, nurses, cleaning staff, and food service workers are second to none. Most importantly I need to mention the BHTs on Men’s Phase 1. They are in the “trenches” with the patients, they are kind, caring, understanding, and are always there for the patients. I have struggled with the notion of being sober for most of my life; however, a BHT named James has helped me see there is a better way of living. For the first time I strive to have that sober life, I strive to carry on the message to those that are still sick and suffering. I will forever be grateful for my time at Caron.

Caron was a very positive experience. I was never forced to do or say anything that I wasn’t comfortable doing. It was a perfect blend of allowing me to move at my own pace as well as giving me the push when needed to confront my issues. Caron has provided the foundation for me to move forward with my life in a healthy, productive and drug free manner.

Without question Caron saved my marriage and my life from a pit of alcoholism which I did not realize I had fallen into. The staff and facilities are top-notch. During my stay I met patients from Canada, Bermuda, Turkey, Panama and the UK who, after conducting research, selected Caron for their recovery. I knew virtually nothing about alcoholism before arriving but soon learned it is a disease of the brain, and the only disease which, when told it has it, the brain says no I do not, Without Caron I would not have been able to break active addiction and enter active recovery. AA alone would not have been anywhere near sufficient. Many of the staff and guest speakers are Caron alumni providing living, breathing, evidence that the Caron curriculum and program can work for the long term. What one person can do another can do.

Caron: accept no substitutes.

My overall experience at Caron was positive. Unfortunately the staffing issues and lack of consistency during last part of my treatment was problematic.

The message and materials at Caron are sound. I do feel prepared to return home and begin my recovery.

The units are meant to function as a community. Unfortunately there is a lack of unity and respect with some members and staff.

It is my hope that Caron is able to stabilize unit staff and programing to provide an optimal experience for all.

Caron is an amazing place to begin your recovery. The tools and knowledge I have gained in my short time here are things that I will take with me through the rest of my journey. I feel 10x more confident leaving here and entering into the real world than I did when I left my previous 2 treatment facilities. I feel like they genuinely care about me here, and aren’t in it only for your money. The staff here are extremely helpful and knowledgeable when It comes to your recovery. They are always wanting to help and are very organized. Everything I needed for aftercare was set up before I left and I was given contacts I can reach out to when I leave here if I have any concerns or run into any problems. Being a part of the Caron community as an alumni feels like I am a part of something bigger, and I can’t wait to get involved and help others from the outside. I would 10000% bring any family member or friend here knowing that they will have their best chance at sobriety if they come here.

I had a great time during my stay. The BHTs were very friendly and supportive, I felt like I was with friends the entire time. I had a lot of fun with the other patients during our activities as well as off-campus trips to go hiking and connect with nature. I honestly am going to miss this place even though I wasn’t too excited to check-in my first day, but hey, it’s rehab, and this is definitely one of the best around.

Special shout-out to BHT Dave for being the funniest guy around! I’ll miss you.

I was skeptical about getting in-patient treatment for my addiction. Within an hour of my arrival I recognized the importance of being at a facility that understood the nuances of addiction and how to treat the whole person. I was impressed by the awareness, compassion, and dedication by almost every staff member I encountered. I think everyone was excited and engaged with my treatment and continued success once I completed my program. I am grateful for this opportunity to attend Caron. I will say it has been one of the top 10 most important experiences of my life! THANK YOU!

A truly amazing place, Unfortunately, I have been to treatments centers numerous times and my experience at Caron was suburb. They have provided me with all the tools I need for long term recovery. Now it’s up to me to use them.

Its super clean and really nice. Also and it was it was a great experience the Staff was great and it was really great for me and my mental health is way better they have great coping skills.

Caron is an exceptional treatment program. I would recommend anyone to come to Caron if in need of addiction help. Everyone from the nursing staff, to the BHT’s, counselors, cafeteria staff and community of people in the HCP program has been a huge asset to me truly wanting sobriety. Having other treatment centers to compare to, Caron is by far #1. These last 4 weeks have changed my life and I am so lucky and so blessed to have been able to come to Caron!

I spent one month there and they helped me through my drinking addition. It will be 8 years this coming December 12, 2021. I owe them a great debt of gratitude . I’ve been to 2 other facilities, they never quit understood me, the way Caron’s did. If you have any sort of addiction, I strongly suggest you call them today. It will be the best call you could ever make.
