Florida (Renaissance)
Vicki Stanbury is a therapist in the Career Services Department. As a vocational therapist, she has been privileged to develop the Therapeutic Vocational Program for Caron Renaissance patients over the past few years.
“I am deeply invested in recovery and believe that having skills and competencies mirrored back to an individual in the workplace is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and relapse prevention,” she says.
Of her work at Caron Renaissance, she is most proud of developing the vocational component, which had been a part of Renaissance when she arrived, into a comprehensive program incorporating individual goals and merging the clinical with practical skills. She strongly believes the Therapeutic Vocational Program brings Caron Renaissance’s mission statement to life and has been honored to witness hundreds of patients’ progress from dependency to productive, recovering lifestyles.
She began working at Renaissance Institute of Palm Beach in January 2000 and has held positions as office support staff, resident manager, admissions specialist, and primary therapist.
She previously worked with troubled teens at Starr Commonwealth Home for Boys in Michigan and with mentally ill youth at Midwest Children’s Home in Colorado. She taught ESL and vocational skills for refugees at the New York Association for New Americans in New York City and Language Arts to middle school students at Henderson, Florida Atlantic University’s lab school. She has her bachelor’s degree from Albion College and a master’s degree in education from Florida Atlantic University.
