Paula Williams

Paula Williams is the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for the Caron Florida Mental Health Program. In this role, she diagnoses and treats patients for their mental health symptoms and needs, prescribing, adjusting, and monitoring medications as needed.

She collaborates with the treatment team and the patient to formulate a treatment plan in order to provide the best possible outcome from the patient’s course of treatment. Her role encompasses developing a good therapeutic relationship with her patients, listening carefully and communicating effectively in order to provide the medication and care they require.

Paula came to Caron in this position in 2022, having been in practice as a psychiatric nurse practitioner since 2020. Her previous experience includes treating patients for mental health issues and substance use disorder at another treatment center and providing mental health care for incarcerated patients in the Florida Department of Corrections. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Paula was a nurse for 24 years.

Paula is dual-certified as a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a family nurse practitioner. She is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) and a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC). She received a post-master's psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner certificate from Maryville University of St. Louis, Missouri. She has a Master of Nursing from Chamberlain University, Addison, Illinois, and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Miami-Dade College, Florida. Paula also has an associate degree in nursing from Miami-Dade College.
