Kelly Current

As Senior Director, Patient Financial Services, Kelly Current helps patients and families find ways to afford treatment, navigate around roadblocks, and make use of all financial and insurance options available to them.

Kelly helps them understand the financial aspects of their treatment and their insurance and payment options. She and her staff also work with patients and families before, during, and after treatment to ensure they know what options are available to them, the fees for those services, and the process for having them covered.

She works with an interdisciplinary team internally on financial plans and strategies for overcoming potential hurdles to access care. Externally, she works with insurance company representatives on the plans available to patients and families.

Kelly has been with Caron since 1999 and in her current role since 2014. In 2021, her responsibilities expanded to include supervision of the billing department, enabling staff to provide patients and their families with comprehensive information and follow through.

Her previous experience at Caron and elsewhere has provided a solid foundation for her current role. Before becoming director, Kelly coordinated the utilization review process, working with insurers and analyzing insurance trends for contracts. She also helped patients coordinate their insurance provisions and make appeals as needed and find financial solutions when insurance was not an option. In coordinating continuing care and appeal efforts, she gained experience collaborating with patients and families to resolve placement and insurance issues.

Prior to coming to Caron, Kelly was a nurse. She is a certified allied addiction professional and a licensed practical nurse.

Patients are understandably focused on treatment so I’m here to help them with insurance, payment, and other financial requirements and issues. At Caron, we strive to be clear and supportive about treatment costs.”
