George Yaeger is the peer facilitator for the First Responders Program. In this role, he leads and facilitates resilience and recovery meetings for first responders in treatment at Caron as well as other locations.
He also conducts educational seminars and lectures for patients and provides peer and clinical support to the clinical supervisor and program director.
A retired deputy chief of the Philadelphia Fire Department and a third-generation firefighter, George has served at every rank in various field firefighting units in addition to several staff units. Over his 35-year career, he worked extensively with the EAP department and was responsible for implementing several wellness programs.
He has been a trained peer support specialist for first responders for more than five years with experience providing support at a premier first responder substance abuse treatment program. George is a skilled peer group facilitator and enjoys providing education specifically tailored to the needs of first responders in the residential and outpatient setting.
He is a certified recovery specialist and certified family recovery specialist through the Pennsylvania Certification Board. He is in the process of becoming a certified addictions associate counselor. George attended National Fire Academy residence courses at various times over a 15-year period including the Executive Fire Officer program.
