Claudia Montas

As a primary therapist for Caron Florida’s Renaissance Program, Claudia Montas works one on one with patients to support them in resolving internal and external conflicts that stand in the way of achieving their personal, relationship, educational, and vocational goals. She provides individual therapy, facilitates groups, and coordinates with Renaissance family therapists.

Her focus is on guiding her patients to be able to see situations and relationships from not only their point of view but also from the point of view of others. She relies on the concepts of internal family systems therapy and trauma-informed care in that work.

Claudia took on this role in 2023, after having done a year-long social work internship with Caron. As an intern, she helped to facilitate groups, assisted with notes, and sat in on individual and family sessions for Renaissance and the Caron Florida Mental Health Program. During her year at Caron, she gained insight into Caron's clinical philosophy and its benefits for clients and their families. Because of this exposure, Claudia is motivated to continue Caron's philosophy in her own practice.

Prior to coming to Caron, Claudia worked extensively in higher education. She currently volunteers for BeWellPBC with the Palm Health Foundation as a coordinator for adolescents, training peers on how to identify and help those who may be experiencing issues with mental health. Both her professional and volunteer experience have strengthened her active listening skills and ability to meet people where they are. Claudia recently completed her time as a fellow under the Minority Fellowship Program with the Council of Social Work Education, supporting the mission of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to reduce the effects of substance abuse and mental illness on America's communities.

Claudia is a registered clinical social worker intern. She has a Master of Social Work from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, and a Master of International Psychology from the Chicago School, Illinois. Her Bachelor of Science in psychology is from the University of South Florida, Tampa.
