Claire Gropman

As Executive Director of Caron Atlanta Outpatient Treatment Center, Claire Gropman brings a passion and commitment to Caron’s mission: Recovery for Life.

With her leadership, expertise, and focus, Caron Atlanta will continue to grow and provide exceptional treatment to the community. With more than a decade of experience and knowledge of addiction and co-occurring treatment and services, Claire is fully invested in Caron’s patient-centric focus and outcome-driven approach. She also recognizes the importance of working with the family system, bringing wellness and balance to the entire family.

Claire manages and oversees Caron Atlanta’s clinical and administrative programs, providing leadership and vision that guides clinical excellence, quality, compliance, community education, and supportive collaborations, as well as being responsible for the operational budget. She also serves as the clinical liaison to Caron’s residential programs and works closely with Caron’s education and prevention team.

Claire has 25 years of clinical experience as well as five years in leadership roles, as director of outpatient services for a behavioral health hospital and, prior to that, in a similar role at a behavioral health and addiction treatment center. Working within a continuum of care that extended from detox to aftercare gave Claire foundational knowledge of patient needs at every step of the treatment process. She is determined to reduce the stigma associated with the disease of addiction and mental illness, and she continually works to increase access to the quality of care that leads to long-term recovery.

Claire’s clinical experience includes working with adults and young adults, coordinating treatment, and ensuring that patient needs were met at every stage of their treatment. In her private practice, which she maintained for more than two decades, she helped clients with a range of mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety, specializing for several years treating clients with substance use disorders and providing relapse prevention services.

She is a licensed professional counselor and an advanced certified relapse prevention specialist (ACRPS). Claire has a Master of Arts in counseling from Michigan State University, East Lansing, and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Delaware, Newark.
