Dr. Alexandra Santoro
Alexandra Santoro, Psy.D is the staff psychologist for the Healthcare Professionals Program. She works with Caron’s psychological testing team and trauma services, providing psychoeducational trauma groups and individual trauma therapy modalities, including cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).
Her therapeutic approach is informed by cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) principles. Her training in therapeutic intervention and assessment took place in inpatient psychiatric hospitals and outpatient clinics in the Philadelphia area.
Dr. Santoro came to Caron as a postdoctoral fellow in 2018 and worked with the Teen and Young Adult Men’s Program before joining the Healthcare Professionals Program as a staff psychologist. She has experience working with individuals across the lifespan who are struggling with a broad range of mental health concerns, including psychosis, mood instability, depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use. She also has experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Dr. Santoro has strong interests in trauma-informed care and interdisciplinary team collaboration.
She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and her Master of Science in counseling from Villanova University.
