Dr. Alexandra Santoro
Alexandra Santoro, Psy.D., is a staff psychologist. She is a member of Caron’s trauma services team, providing psychoeducational trauma groups and individual trauma therapy modalities, including cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. She is also a member of Caron’s psychological testing team with experience in providing personality and cognitive/neuropsychological assessment measures.
Dr. Santoro’s theoretical orientation is rooted in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and her therapeutic approach is informed by person-centered therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) principles. Her training in therapeutic intervention and assessment took place in inpatient psychiatric hospitals and outpatient clinics in the Philadelphia area.
Dr. Santoro has experience working with individuals across the lifespan who struggle with a broad range of mental health concerns, including psychosis, mood instability, depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use. She also has experience working with special populations, including healthcare professionals, college students, individuals who are homeless, and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Dr. Santoro has strong interests in trauma-informed care and interdisciplinary team collaboration.
She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and her Master of Science in counseling from Villanova University.
