Parent and Family Peer Support Groups

Caron's Parent and Family Peer Support Groups are designed for parents, spouses, partners, siblings, and family members who have a loved one struggling with substance use, currently in treatment, or in recovery. These groups provide a confidential and supportive space for family members to connect, share experiences, and support one another in their own recover journey.

Our peer support groups are led by fellow parents and family members with lived experience, rather than clinical professionals. Meetings are grounded in shared understanding, encouragement, education, and hope, while recognizing that each family's experience is unique. Fellowship and connection are a cornerstone of recovery, not only for the individual struggling with substance use, but for family members as well.

Each group has its own "flavor," process, and style of connection. We encourage family members to attend multiple groups to find one that best fits their needs and where they feel most comfortable. While these groups are not affiliated with any specific recovery or 12-step program, programs such as Al-Anon Family Groups and Nar-Anon Family Groups can be valuable supports alongside a peer support group experience.

Unless otherwise noted, groups are open to any parent or family member, regardless of affiliation with Caron. Most groups meet virtually, allowing individuals from across the country to participate. If a group meets in person, it will be clearly labeled as such. A "newcomers" meeting is designed for individuals who are new to support groups or attending their first meeting. These meetings provide a welcoming space to learn more about peer support, ask questions, and become comfortable with the group process.

Please note that these groups are peer-led and are not clinically facilitated. While they can be a meaningful source of support and connection, they are not a substitute for therapy, clinical treatment, or professional counseling services.
