Youth Education Program-Substance Use Disorder & the Impact on Families

Youth who are dealing with a loved one’s substance use face unique challenges. They may feel alone and confused about how to manage their feelings. Caron’s Youth Education Program is here to help these youth understand what their loved one is facing, to offer them ways to cope, and to build their support system so they can thrive.

Caron’s Youth Education Program provides a safe and caring space for youth to learn that they are not alone and that there is hope for healing, for both them and their loved one. Participants learn that they did not cause their loved one’s substance use and they cannot control their loved one’s substance use. Youth learn that it is okay to talk about how they feel and how they can make healthy choices in their lives.

Program leaders are trained professionals with experience working with youth. Leaders incorporate activities, including crafts, team-building exercises, recreation, and educational groups. At the end of the program, each family receives a list of resources that can provide ongoing support and education about substance use disorder for their child.

Program is for youth between the ages of 7 and 17.

Lunch will be provided.
