Common Questions

Is Caron the right place for my loved one?

Yes, detox will be available as medically necessary.

Safely navigating the detox process is a crucial first step in recovery. That’s why it’s so important to be in a healthcare environment with professionals and credentialed doctors who can assist every step of the way. The experienced staff teams at Caron are proficient at managing the medical complexities of detoxing from alcohol and drug use as well as related conditions like chronic pain, diabetes, heart disease, and other co-occurring disorders.

To learn more about our detox approach, please reach out to our admissions team to answer any questions you may have.

  • Detox as medically necessary
  • Core counseling and psychoeducation groups dealing with co-occurring disorders, trauma, return-to-use prevention, coping skills, mindfulness-based stress reduction, life skills, 12-Step facilitation, and tailored evidence-based practices to address other issues as needed
  • Weekly individual therapy
  • Monitoring and/or random urinalysis
  • Spiritual and family counseling as clinically indicated
  • Caron 12-step meeting and access to local recovery support meetings
  • LGBTQIA+ 12-Step meetings and transgender support

Patients can use Caron’s transportation to recovery meetings and public transportation for other purposes if approved.

Treatment will take place during the week and on weekends (25 hours of clinical programming during the week and experiential activities during the weekend). A typical weekday will include 12-Step programming, DBT, psychoeducation, return-to-use prevention, processing, other evidence-based practices, and experiential groups along with weekly individual counseling.

On weekends, PHP patients will participate in life skills, recovery, and experiential groups.

Master’s-level therapists and supervisors who have experience working with patients using insurance will staff the program. Clinical staff will also have specializations and credentials in treatment modalities like 12-Step programming, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), other evidence-based practices, and trauma treatment.

Patients will have access to meetings specific to the groups they identify with, such as transgender support and LGBTQIA+ 12-Step meetings. Caron Florida also participates in events with community partners, such as the PRIDE center in Fort Lauderdale, INSPIRE in West Palm Beach, and Lambda North in Delray Beach.

Patients will receive one individual therapy session weekly with additional sessions as clinically indicated.

Patients will program in a private space on the first floor in the Keele Center.

The Keele Center is a 40-bed, 100,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art medical facility in Delray Beach, Florida. The Keele Center, which is the hub of all Caron Florida admissions, significantly expands Caron’s services in Florida with a medical detox unit, an Older Adult residential treatment program, an expanded level of care for an Ocean Drive residential treatment program, as well as neurocognitive services, research, and medical education.

Patients will live at Caron’s Fairway on the Greens (FOG), a separate building from other patients at Caron Florida. Apartments will be gender-specific. FOG can accommodate up to 60 patients in double-occupancy rooms. A recovery advocate will be on site at FOG for PHP and IOP patients seven days a week/24 hours a day.

Patients will be responsible for cleaning, laundry, and cooking their meals. They will have access to technology, like phones and laptops.

PHP patients will not be able to bring their cars, but transport will be available to take them to Keele for programming and to an evening AA meeting. They can use public transport for off-site recovery meetings and the gym.

Yes, PHP patients can attend off-campus recovery meetings. A Caron van will take patients to an AA meeting in the evening. In the morning, a patient can go to a meeting with a sober support person like a potential sponsor or a Caron alum.

A family education program will provide education about addiction, treatment, and recovery, and skills to create healthy changes to the family system, such as setting boundaries and how to communicate in healthy, effective ways. It will be a half-day program available in person or virtually to begin with, and we’re developing opportunities to provide more support in time. The family therapist dedicated to the outpatient programs will lead the program. Patients and their loved ones will also have the opportunity to attend virtual family programming, and we are working on expanding services for the FL region to include more family support and availability for programming, including live options.

That dedicated family therapist will provide updates to families, follow up with them as needed, and assist with recovery resources, etc. Families will not receive individual counseling.
