Caron Announces Honorees for the 2018 New England Recovery Celebration
Wernersville, PA – September 2018 – Caron Treatment Centers, a leading and nationally recognized not-for-profit provider of addiction treatment and behavioral health services announced the Honorees for the 2018 New England Recovery Celebration being held on Tuesday, September 25th, 2018 at the Harvard Club in Boston. This event raises critical funds to support those seeking recovery.
Michael P. Botticelli, Executive Director of the Grayken Center for Addiction, Boston Medical Center, will receive the Caron Advocacy Award. Mr. Botticelli is one of the nation’s leading addiction experts and served as the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) at the White House under President Barack Obama. He also previously served as Director of the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services at the Massachusetts Department of Health and worked closely with many BMC experts across the nation and state. He was a member of the Advisory Committee for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Center for Substance Abuse Prevention and the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention.
The Richard J. Caron Award of Excellence will be awarded to John E. Hoffman, Retired Partner of Shearman & Sterling, New York. In 1981, John was recognized as the International Lawyer of the Year for his role in negotiating the release of the American hostages in Iran. He is a U.S. Army Veteran, having served from 1955-1957. Since his retirement, John has served on and led many local and state-wide nonprofit and community organizations throughout New Hampshire. Much of his time has been devoted to mental health and substance use disorder issues. He presently serves on the Caron New England Regional Advisory Board.
The 2018 New England Recovery Celebration also has the privilege of hosting Keynote Speaker, Lisa Tanzer, President of Life is Good™. Prior to becoming President, Lisa served as the company’s Head of Marketing after spending 25 years on the Board of Directors of the Life is Good™ Kids Foundation. She has held executive positions in the entertainment, ecommerce, and education sectors. Earlier in her career, Lisa held Marketing and Strategy roles at Hasbro, Staples, The Gillette Company, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. She received her BA from Tufts University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
The New England Recovery Celebration will raise funds for addiction treatment scholarships for New England residents, as well as substance abuse prevention programming for local schools.
