As a therapist for the Women’s Program, Rachael Schmoyer supports and guides her patients through the treatment program.
In conjunction with the family services team she also provides support and education to families to create healthier, better-functioning relationships. This foundational work gives patients and families the ability to understand addiction and the tools they need to recover from it.
Rachael also treats co-occurring disorders and is a member of Caron’s trauma team. She is trained in EMDR and cognitive processing therapy (CPT), both proven modalities to treat trauma.
She began working at Caron in her current position in 2017. Her previous therapeutic experience includes inpatient and outpatient treatment. Rachael has a Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology from West Chester University, PA. She is in the process of getting her license as a professional counselor and her certification as an advanced alcohol and drug counselor.
It’s gratifying to see patients, who were hesitant coming into treatment, begin to move forward and work toward resolving the circumstances that led them to Caron.”
