Loretta Mestishen is a Caron staff psychologist working with teen males and young adult men. In that work, she strives to make her patients feel empowered by understanding their mental health and treatment options rather than stigmatized by their diagnosis.

She is transparent with her patients about their diagnoses in an effort to demystify the process and allow a collaborative treatment model.

She began work at Caron in 2018 as a postdoctoral fellow and was hired as a staff psychologist following the completion of the fellowship. Prior to coming to Caron, much of her training focused on neuropsychological testing. She trained in the Concussion Clinic at Nemours/A. I. Dupont Hospital for Children, the Neuropsychology Department at Cooper University Hospital, and in a private neuropsychology practice. She completed her internship working with neuro-atypical children and adults who are on the autism spectrum or have other developmental challenges.

She has a Master of Science degree and a Master of Fine Arts degree in addition to a doctorate in clinical psychology. She points to her work teaching theatre and film as useful in her therapeutic work because it requires creative thinking in time-sensitive situations and the ability to work collaboratively with many types of people and personalities.

Dr. Mestishen also has certificates in diversity, and eco-psychology.
