As Addiction Medicine Fellow, Dr. Carolyn McIlree medically manages Caron’s women’s primary treatment program, as well as the Women’s Relapse Program in Pennsylvania.

Dr. McIlree also collaborates on Caron’s Screening and Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) initiative, a screening program for hazardous and harmful behaviors among teens, and on research involving electronic cigarette “vape” use in teens.

Dr. McIlree completed her Preventive Medicine residency training at The University of Maryland Baltimore, with an MPH in Epidemiology. While a Resident at the University of Maryland, she served as House Staff Officer for Quality Improvement & Patient Safety and led a project exploring the relationship between doctor communication and patient satisfaction scores on a nationwide hospital survey instrument. Dr. McIlree also provided process mapping for a community-based opioid addiction initiative and collaborated on a longitudinal study of Maryland public schools investigating the association between Wellness Team stability and nutrition & physical activity best practices. Dr. McIlree has also served on a laboratory operations leadership team designing workflow solutions to enhance quality and safety, and cost minimization. She obtained her M.D. from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, and her M.A. in Psychology from Stony Brook University.

Dr. McIlree’s interests include systems-based public health interventions designed to prevent addiction, particularly among youths.
