Carolyn Kurtz is an Outpatient Therapist at Caron Counseling Services, a position she has had since 2019. In her therapeutic role, she gives her patients the support and tools they need for optimal wellness and long-term recovery through a continuum of care that includes evaluating the level of care they need, providing individual and group therapy, and recommending after-care resources specific to the patient’s needs.
Prior to coming to Caron, Carolyn worked with patients who had experienced trauma, including domestic violence and sexual assault. She also has previous experience as an outpatient therapist working with patients with a mental health diagnosis and a co-occurring disorder. The experience and expertise she gained in these roles give her a deep understanding of how addiction, mental health, and co-occurring disorders interact.
She is a licensed social worker and a certified complex trauma professional. She has a Master of Social Work degree from Millersville University.
Addiction does not exist in a vacuum. It is intertwined with mental health, trauma, and other disorders. As Caron clinicians, we understand the need to treat the whole patient.”
