Caron Renaissance Honored with 2015 Caregiver Friendly Award
Boca Raton, Florida (July 30, 2015) - Caron Renaissance – the South Florida continuum of the leading addiction and behavioral healthcare not-for-profit Caron Treatment Centers – has announced that it is a recipient of the 2015 Caregiver Friendly Award by Today’s Caregiver. Recipients were honored for their exceptional commitment to improving the quality of life of family caregivers and their loved ones. Caron Renaissance is the only facility this year to win in the long-term care facility category; other award categories include books, media, products, and services.
“Family members often focus all of their attention and energy on their addicted loved one,” said Bradley F. Sorte, Executive Director at Caron Renaissance and Caron Ocean Drive. “Subsequently, family members are often greatly impacted as a result of the disease and require significant treatment of their own. At Caron Renaissance, we consider the family to be a patient as much as the addicted individual.”
Sorte explained that at Caron Renaissance, a parallel process takes place that promotes healing and healthy ways of coping with the stress often associated with addiction and behavioral health disorders. Therapists engage caregivers in treatment planning, clinical issues, and interventions, as well as provide support for their emotional needs, helping them find balance in their roles as caregivers.
Caron Renaissance also offers a unique experience through its Residential Family Restructuring Program, in which caregivers and their loved ones reside together in the same clinical setting. Through the program, caregivers participate in daily group therapy sessions that are typically only available for patients. This clinical immersion of caregivers with the patient community helps drive the emotional healing process and provides the opportunity for families to embrace recovery.
“The average caregiver is responsible for over $40,000 in health related expenditures each year, in either personal or directed funds,” says Gary Barg, Editor-in-Chief of Today’s Caregiver Magazine. “This award is designed to help family caregivers recognize and reward those organizations who will care for them in as committed a manner as they care for their loved ones.”
The Caregiver Friendly Awards were presented at the Fearless Caregiver Conference on July 30, 2015 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Boca Raton, Florida. The conference took place from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
