Caron Treatment Centers Broadens Access to Care with Expansion of In-Network Insurance Partnerships, Enhanced Regional Outpatient and Support Services

Extensive Initiative Supports Caron’s Mission of Recovery for Life

Wernersville, Pa. (October 3, 2019) – Caron Treatment Centers, an internationally recognized non-profit dedicated to addiction and behavioral healthcare treatment, research, prevention and addiction medicine education, today announced that it is expanding its continuum of care to broaden access to its quality, evidence-based substance use disorder treatment. As part of this initiative, Caron added Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield to the circle of insurance providers with whom it has an in-network agreement for the treatment of substance use disorder. With this new agreement, qualifying individuals from across the United States will have access to Caron’s Pennsylvania-based programming for teens, young adults, men and women through the Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Association’s Blue Card Program.

“Substance use disorder is a chronic, treatable disease,” said Doug Tieman, CEO and President of Caron Treatment Centers. “However, access to quality, life-saving treatment remains a barrier for many families seeking help. That is why Caron is making its treatment programs and support services more available and affordable.”

The expansion of in-network insurance relationships is among several recent moves by Caron to make treatment more accessible. Caron also announces the following:

  • Caron entered into a joint venture with Maryland Addiction Recovery Center (MARC). This joint venture will allow Caron to increase recovery services for individuals and families, especially in the Greater Washington, D.C. area. The first endeavor for the joint venture is the completed acquisition of Encore Recovery Solutions (Encore) of Arlington, Va. Encore specializes in substance use disorder treatment focusing on trauma and provides intensive outpatient (IOP).
  • Caron is expanding clinical services and recovery support services in its regional recovery centers in New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and Atlanta. New services include reintegration support, increased family programming, additional parent and family support groups, services for executives and professionals, as well as new groups, workshops and seminars.

“For more than six decades Caron has provided best-in-class addiction treatment for our patients and their families,” continued Tieman. “Our challenge has always been how can we help more people – and with this strategic plan, we can.”

Patients or families seeking help or for more information about Caron’s insurance agreements, regional expansion and new in-patient programming can call 877-369-0109 or visit caron.org. For patients not covered by in-network insurance agreements or who do not need the special services of signature programming, Caron offers financial assistance for those who qualify.
