Hernan's story

At 13, Hernan began experimenting with marijuana and, by age 15, was regularly drinking alcohol and using cocaine. Over the next 13 years, Hernan struggled with extreme addiction which included trips to rehab and jail. In 2001, at the age of 28, Hernan joined a 12-Step program and began the road to recovery. After struggling for so long, he can now say it was the information and support he gained from the program that helped him and that it was the best thing that ever happened to him. He believes the key to recovery is to have access to the right information about addiction. It is Hernan's goal for today's teens to also be offered access to the best information to aid in recovery.

About Hernan Prada

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Hernan Prada began his career as an apprentice at the age of 15 at LLongueras, a salon known for styling the Royal Family in Spain, Salvador Dali and other European celebrities. At 18, he transferred to the main branch of LLongueras in Barcelona. Soon after, Hernan came to New York and was a stylist at the John Barrett Salon in Bergdorf Goodman. He is currently the owner of Hernan Prada Salon in Scarsdale, NY, a 2013 winner of Westchester Magazine for Best Balayage. This is the second time his salon has been named one of the top salons in the area by Westchester Magazine. In addition to running a salon, he continues to provide makeup and hair for fashion photo shoots and runway shows for companies like Hermes and Valentino, among others.

Your gift can make a difference

Caron also leads the industry in scholarship care providing more aid to families who cannot afford treatment than three of the recognized treatment centers combined. Caron not only dedicates a percentage of patient revenue to scholarship care, we are also fortunate to be able to partner with family, friends and corporate leaders to raise scholarship dollars that go directly to helping patients and their families recover from this devastating disease. Unfortunately, there are still families who cannot afford treatment. Your gift, regardless of the size, will help us begin to bridge this financial gap.

All donations to the Hernan Prada Scholarship Fund are tax deductible to the full extent of the law, as no goods or services were provided in consideration of your gift. Please note that if you received an auction item or service, these items are not tax deductible because you are getting something in return for your money. Only donations above the value of the goods or services received are tax deductible.
