Caron Treatment Centers and Stony Brook Southampton Hospital are pleased to present this annual educational event for medical doctors, physicians, pharmacists, psychologists, therapists, medical students, residents and social workers to learn more about the field of addiction medicine.


Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Comprehend addiction as a disorder that involves elements of both impulsivity and compulsivity.
  • Be familiar with the three stages of addiction: binge/intoxication, withdrawal/negative affect and preoccupation/anticipation.
  • Have a better understanding of ways to treat pain.
  • Be aware of the legal and ethical issues when prescribing opiates to patients.
