Parents have dreams of a wonderful life for their children. They face new challenges and gain new parenting skills as their children learn and grow. Yet, one of the most difficult periods parents experience is when their children begin to test limits, challenge authority and engage in dangerous behaviors such as using drugs and alcohol in a problematic manner. This is especially true during the teen and young adult years when communication becomes increasingly difficult, mired in frustration and anger.

This presentation describes healthy communication styles and clearly outlines the steps to creating and reinforcing parental boundaries. It is designed to provide parents with education regarding substance use and the unique parenting skills required when their children are using drugs and alcohol in a problematic manner.

Please do not let finances prohibit your attendance. Contact Maria Hendrickson at 610-743-6179 or mhendrickson@caron.org for information regarding workshop scholarships.
