Medically supervised detoxification, stabilization, and assessment is an essential part of Caron’s treatment program. Caron’s current medical unit was built in a different time, designed to handle fewer patients. Today, the combination of increased volume and patients with medically complex needs with multiple comorbid conditions, specifically related to the heroin epidemic and an increased number of seniors, requires not only a larger facility but also one with increased treatment capabilities.

  • The Carole and Ray Neag Medical Center, currently under construction, is designed to meet the growing and changing medical needs of patients impacted by substance use disorders.
  • The 42,000 square foot building will serve as admissions and medical detoxification and will house Caron’s Neurofeedback and Chronic Pain and Substance Use Disorder Programs.
  • A total of 15 beds are designated for detoxification and medical supervision while 14 beds are available for Caron’s Seniors’ Program.
  • The Center includes advanced medical capabilities for nurses and physicians with two centrally located, large nurses stations and observation rooms for comprehensive patient care.

Building Schedule and Construction Photos

  • With the exception of one significant snow storm in March, the weather has cooperated with our building schedule keeping us on time and more importantly on budget. The building is slated for completion by November 30th with patients utilizing the facility on December 1, 2017.  The following drone videos gives you a “birds eye view” of the construction progress. Please visit the photo gallery for an up close view of the progress on this impressive facility.

Your Opportunity to be Part of this Historical Initiative

Caron was one of the first treatment centers to recognize addiction as a disease not a disgrace. Often at the forefront of treatment, Caron was among the first to have on staff a medical doctor and psychiatrist to attend to patients physical and psychological needs.
