Tom McDermitt is the Senior Director of Clinical Administration at Caron Pennsylvania. He is responsible for supervising all of the Counselor Assistants across all treatment programs offered at Caron Pennsylvania. Tom also facilitates a weekly support group for patients which focuses on sharing secrets. This weekly group has proven to be a powerful experience for patients to begin their healing process while in treatment.
Tom is an advocate for patients that are part of the LGBTQ community and also possesses a great deal of knowledge on the subject of crystal meth addiction. He offers his support and expertise to that population and frequently meets with patients upon being admitted to Caron to help them acclimate to the treatment setting. Tom is part of a weekly clinical group called Pride that is for all LGBTQ patients currently in treatment. Tom also organizes and helps to facilitate Caron’s HIV and Hep C Retreats. In addition, he is a sought after speaker throughout the United States and shares his story at conventions of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Tom began his career at Caron as a Counselor Assistant in the Adolescent Extended Care programs and has been in the field for over 11 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ashford University and holds an Associate Addiction Counselor Level II Certification through the Pennsylvania Certification Board.
