Lydia Moore Allen is the program director at Caron, a role she took on in September 2019. Previously, she was a family therapist at Caron Renaissance for six and a half years. She is responsible for providing oversight and supervision for a team of primary and family therapists within the overall management structure of Caron Renaissance, consistent with the clinical philosophy. Other responsibilities include developing and monitoring measurable goals for each therapist she supervises, providing oversight of clinical cases, assuring quality of care and maintaining strong relationships with staff, referents, and families among others and providing administrative and clinical oversight of the monthly family workshop.
Lydia has a background in administrative and clinical leadership and has worked collaboratively with others to achieve program goals in previous employment. She is dedicated to Caron’s philosophical approach and to supporting the clinical team in her role as program director. Her passion for direct work with patient and families over the years enhances her ability to be connected to the needs of patients and families and also to the staff.
She has been a therapist since 2003. Over the 16 years she was a therapist, she worked with many families and agencies within the community. Her experience has given her the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and take care of crises as they arise. She spent eight years as the assistant clinical director, lead therapist, and behavioral health overlay services therapist at a residential treatment center for adolescent males.
Lydia is a certified addiction professional and a certified parenting instructor. She also has training in co-occurring disorders, cognitive behavioral therapy, aggression replacement therapy, and motivational interviewing.
She is a qualified supervisor (can supervise others for licensure) and a licensed clinical social worker. She has a master’s degree in social work from Barry University.
