As the nurse practitioner at Caron Renaissance, Julie Donahue’s key role is meeting with patients upon admission and completing a physical and medical history. She also treats any acute medical problems and follows any chronic medical issues patients may experience while in Caron’s care. Coming from a family practice into addiction treatment has stretched her capabilities and her understanding. “Patients who have an addiction have a different set of health issues. I have learned so much in treating our patients and understanding their specific needs and concerns.”
When asked what she enjoys most about what she does, the answer is “positive outcomes. Applying the skills and experience I have and then seeing patients get better is the best.”
Her experience includes a specialty in family medicine and more than eight years of experience working in family practice before she joined Caron Renaissance in 2013. She began her nursing career at Miami Children’s Hospital as a registered nurse in the cardiac intensive care unit.
Julie is nationally board certified with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a family nurse practitioner. She has a Master of Science degree, a Bachelor of Nursing degree, and a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology.
