Amy Shoemaker is a Family Therapist at Caron Renaissance. She began her career with Renaissance in 2009 and since that time has worked in a number of capacities. Initially, Amy worked as a Counselor Assistant and Weekend Supervisor at the residential campus where she oversaw the staff and patients. These roles involved crisis management, patient care and assisting patients in developing healthy coping skills. In her current position as a family therapist she works with families in addressing their own family of origin issues, traumas, and enabling. Amy encompasses the philosophy “the family is the patient, the patient is the family” in working with families.
Amy is a graduate of the University of Rio Grande and has been working in the addiction field since 2005, previously managing a 50 bed residential recovery community.
