Treatment for 20-25 year old women

Caron’s new Young Adult Female Program was designed to treat women 20-25 years old who are single and dependent on their families of origin.  This new program will follow many of the same treatment modalities of Caron’s highly successful Young Adult Male Program.  Through assessments, therapy, education and peer support groups, young women will receive a wide range of services to address core issues of chemical dependency.

Specialized programming will include positive peer culture groups that focus on issues common to young adult females in treatment.  The program is structured so that young women can establish relationships with their peers and with the staff in a consistent manner.  The young women will participate in specialized programming that includes:

• Psycho-educational lectures
• Process groups that focus on issues such as:     
  o        Anger, depression and anxiety
  o        Abandonment
  o        Body image
  o        Nutrition
  o        Self-injurious behaviors
  o        Relapse prevention
• Community activities
• Adventure-based experiences – camping, biking, rafting
• Exposure to internal and external 12-Step meetings on a daily basis
• Family treatment program
  
  

Engaging the family from the onset of treatment. 

The family treatment component of this program is the first step toward family healing and is a mandatory requirement of this program. Family treatment helps families and patients understand the emotional consequences and impact on the family system as a result of chemical dependency.

As of July 1, 2008, Caron’s entire Young Adult continuum of care, which encompasses our Young Adult Male and Female Programs, is smoke/tobacco-free. Caron has a comprehensive smoking cessation and nicotine replacement/detox program to assist patients in meeting the goal of a smoke-free environment. Studies have shown that patients, who discontinue ALL of their addictive substances at one time, significantly decrease their risk of relapse.
