Young Adult Assessment Program

Caron's Young Adult Assessment Program is typically a 5-10 day residential assessment program for young adults 20-25 years old.

The assessment provides the family with an opportunity to evaluate a suspected addiction while still in its early stages.

The assessment includes a history and physical, biopsychosocial assessment, as well as the following testing based upon clinical need:
  • Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-III
  • Personality Assessment Inventory
  • Wechsler Individual Achievement Test-II
  • Wechsler Memory Scale-III
  • Bender II
  • Wisconsin Card Sort
  • Trails
  • Delis-Kaplan Executive Function System

(these tests will be utilized based on each patient's individual needs; not all patients will be given each test)

In addition, a team of Caron professionals will collect and evaluate collateral information about the patient, including information from the young adult’s medical and psychological providers when appropriate.

At the end of the assessment, the young adult and their loved ones, as well as other providers (interventionists, psychologists, etc.) will meet with Caron professionals to review a verbal summary report and recommendations specific to the young adult.
