Providing tools for a life of recovery... |
After treatment patients will not be alone. The most important work patients will do for their recovery will occur the first day after they leave Caron. The same is true for the first week, first month, and the first year. Each individual has a very specific agenda that requires guidance and patience. All of them have to do with 12-Step recovery programs. Unlike other treatment programs, Caron supports its patients through this transitional phase in their lives.

Recovery Care Services (RCS): |

Recovery Care Services (RCS) are available to patients at no additional charge upon leaving treatment. Caron stays connected to their recovery by making monthly calls for one year after discharge, allowing us to take an in-depth look at all areas of recovery such as 12-Step participation, aftercare attendance, and social/family support.
RCS specialists will ask questions to help the individual think more deeply and fully about his or her recovery and in that way become more self-aware and catch the early warning signs of relapse. We help balance the "ups and downs" of recovery and see what needs to be worked on for the following month.
Other benefits to this program include:
- Reinforcement and review of the continuing care plan that was established while in treatment.
- Referral information and assistance when necessary.
- Reminders about Caron alumni activities, workshops and retreats.
- After one year of participation in the Recovery Care Services program, patients will receive a certificate of completion and a coin to celebrate their first year of sobriety.
Recovery Care Services emphasizes that one never "graduates" from a recovery program. Recovery is for life. A chronic illness requires an ongoing recovery program. Once a person realizes the spiritual rewards of the program then one can understand why a person may consider himself or herself "a grateful recovering addict."
Recovery Care Services for the Family: |
Recovery for life not only begins when a patient leaves treatment but also applies to the individual's family. As a pioneer in the treatment of addiction as a family disease, Caron supports the family by offering a Family Education Program within each of it's treatment programs, so the healing process can begin for the entire family during treatment. Once a loved one leaves treatment, Caron supports the family by offering regular phone calls to family members to focus on their own recovery program according to the principles of Al Anon, and depending on their loved one's treatment experience, the home contract.
Topics of these phone calls with the family may include:
- What can I expect when my family member returns home from treatment?
- How can I be supportive without enabling?
- How do I establish healthy boundaries?
Phone calls for family members will occur several times a year and are offered at no additional charge.
