Psychological Services

Caron has a full compliment of psychologists, which allows for each of Caron’s treatment programs for adolescents, young adults and adults to have a fully-dedicated psychologist.
Within the first few days of a patient’s admissions to Caron, a psychologist performs an Integrated Psychological Evaluation to gather information regarding a patient’s substance abuse, mental health, family background and other major life areas to enhance the effectiveness of their treatment, and (when appropriate) make a co-occurring diagnosis. When necessary, individual psychotherapy is also offered to patients to assist in understanding the psychological issues related to their addiction.
In addition to meeting with each patient, the psychologists collaborate weekly with each patient’s treatment team to review their progress and identify any further psychological issues that may emerge during treatment. Caron’s psychologists will also refer a patient to our consulting psychiatrist for medication assessment to determine whether medication may be necessary for depression, a mood disorder, or any other presenting mental health issue.
