Pain and Chemical Dependency Program

A Partnership between Caron Treatment Centers and The Reading Hospital and Medical Center
More than 75 million Americans suffer from chronic or recurrent pain. These same individuals also often experience co-occurring depression, anxiety and addiction. The Pain and Chemical Dependency Program offers comprehensive psychiatric, addiction and behavioral assessments for these individuals suffering from chronic pain and addiction.
Treatment Locations
Each individual entering the Pain and Chemical Dependency Program who presents with a complaint of non-malignant pain and potential opiate addiction will undergo a comprehensive evaluation at one of our three locations in Pennsylvania:
- Caron Pennsylvania – Wernersville, PA
- Pain Medicine Center – Philadelphia, PA
- Pain Medicine Center – Wyomissing, PA
Treatment Options
Following an evaluation several treatment options will be made available to each individual based on their treatment needs. These options include:
- Appropriate medication along with individual and group outpatient chemical dependency treatment in Philadelphia
-
A referral to Caron Pennsylvania, a residential chemical dependency treatment facility in Wernersville, PA with the availability of chronic pain management, such as:
- Medical detoxification
- Educational and supportive therapy around pain and addiction
- Mindfulness therapy and yoga
- Psychological counseling to assist with self-soothing skills
- Acupuncture and massage
- Medication management utilizing non-addicting drugs for pain relief
- Physical therapy
- Individual and group counseling
- Family education
- Outside consultations
- Therapy to address specific commonly occurring mood disorders
- A referral to pain management services including medical and behavioral pain interventions
At the conclusion of treatment, an individual’s treatment team will provide a continuing care plan and recommendations for aftercare treatment.
Experience has shown that patients who successfully complete any of the program’s treatment options are in less pain and are more functional in their daily lives.
