Meet Our Development Staff

Patrick Feeley, CFRE - Chief Development Officer/Executive Vice President

Mr. Feeley has 20 years experience in fundraising and management, and currently oversees development (fundraising), which generates in excess of $10 million annually, as well as alumni relations. In addition, Mr. Feeley will be responsible for the upcoming fundraising campaign that will expand Caron’s treatment services, and assist in the continuation of furthering its mission of “helping more people…better.”

Joseph K. Lauginiger, Jr., MBA - Senior Vice President/Special Assistant to the President

Mr. Lauginiger has over 40 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector. He began his career with the Boy Scouts of America in 1973 where he spent fourteen years. In 1987, Mr. Lauginiger joined Caron Treatment Centers, and was the Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer, where his responsibilities included development (fundraising) and alumni relations that generated in excess of $10 million annually. Mr. Lauginiger currently serves as Senior Vice President and assists the President with special projects.

Susan K. Borelli - Vice President of Development

Sue joined Caron’s development team in 2006 and stays in touch with Caron’s alumni on a national basis visiting with them and families across the country. Sue identifies and cultivates philanthropic opportunities to expand partnerships with corporations, foundations and individuals with a focus on Washington, D.C., Boston and Philadelphia regions. Susan also coordinates support for Caron’s endowed scholarship programs, charitable gift annuities, trusts and other planned gifts. Susan holds a bachelor’s degree from Albright College and an MBA from Lebanon Valley College.

Trudy Avery - National Development Officer

Trudy  joined Caron’s development team in 2012, and brings over 15 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector of fundraising, including the University of Massachusetts, Massachusetts  Maritime Academy and the U.S.S. Constitution Museum. Trudy is responsible for advancing Caron’s philanthropy by seeking major gifts that benefit treatment scholarships, Student Assistance Programming, as well as Caron’s upcoming capital campaign. Trudy holds a bachelors degree from SUNY Regents College and a Meeting Management Certificate from Bentley University.

Sue Hendrickson - Corporate Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving

Sue joined the Caron staff in 1987 and has served in various capacities. She works with alumni and families by introducing them to a variety of giving opportunities, such as patient scholarships and the Chapel Fund. Sue also provides direct supervision and strategic leadership to Caron's alumni relations program. Sue holds a bachelor's degree from Millersville University and an MBA from Alvernia College.

Gita Blakeney Saltus - Regional Vice President, Bermuda

Gita joined Caron Bermuda in 2008, and manages the Bermuda office, with oversight of its operations including programming and business/fund development initiatives. Gita works closely with the Caron Bermuda board and is responsible for the establishment and stewardship of several major partnerships with the Bermuda corporate donor community which has made significant investments to aid addiction prevention, treatment recovery services and scholarship funding. Gita also plans the annual "Award of Excellence" dinner, a fundraiser that benefits Caron Bermuda's scholarship fund and adolescent and family programmes.

Tara Handron - Regional Vice President, Washington, D.C.

Tara is responsible for managing Caron's Washington, DC Office, which includes coverage for Washington, DC, Virginia and Maryland. Tara works closely with Caron PA’s alumni staff to provide support groups for alumni and parents as well as recovery related workshops. Tara also works with the Caron DC Advisory Board composed of professionals from various local communities. Together they are planning an annual Washington, DC Gala as well as other impactful activities to raise scholarship support for the DC region. Tara also performs a one-woman show about alcoholism and recovery that is used to help with Caron’s outreach efforts and fundraising. Tara holds a bachelor of fine arts from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and from Georgetown University a master’s in Communication, Culture and Technology.

Daniel Lynch, CAS, LADC-I, BRI-I - Regional Vice President, Boston

Dan, based out of Caron's Boston office in Norwell, MA, coordinates Caron's fundraising efforts in the Greater Boston and New England areas. He works closely with Caron's Boston Advisory Board members in setting and defining goals for the region and is the main force behind Caron's annual Boston Gala that raises scholarship support for the New England region. Dan received his Associate’s Degree in Addiction studies from the University of Massachusetts and has been working in the field of addiction for over 20 years.

James McManus - Regional Vice President, Philadelphia

Jim is responsible for the management of Caron's Philadelphia Office and the many groups and workshops that are held at the Plymouth Meeting site. Jim also works with Caron's Philadelphia Advisory Board and alumni volunteers to coordinate Caron's annual Philadelphia dinner, a fundraiser that provides funds for scholarship treatment for individuals from the Philadelphia region. Jim holds a bachelor's degree from LaSalle University and an MBA from Drexel University.

Todd Whitmer, MA - Regional Vice President, New York

Todd, based out of Caron's New York office in Manhattan, coordinates Caron's fundraising efforts in the Greater New York Metropolitan Area. He works closely with Caron's New York Advisory Board members in setting and defining goals for the region and is the main force behind Caron's annual New York Gala that raises scholarship support for the New York region.
Todd has over 30 years experience in the addiction field and received his Master of Science degree from St Joseph University in Organizational Development. He also studied Organizational Psychology at Union Institute and holds a BA from Millersville University.

Nancy Zintak - Regional Vice President, Atlanta

Nancy is responsible for managing Caron’s newest regional Office in Atlanta, Georgia. A native of Atlanta, Nancy has spent nearly 30 years in the media and marketing business and uses those skills to build a broader brand awareness of Caron Treatment Centers in the southeast.  Her work includes coordinating Alumni events; developing Parent and Family Support groups; working with schools on their addiction prevention programs and building a community for education, resources and referrals for those who are affected by the disease of addition.  Nancy holds a bachelor of sciences in Arts and Humanities from Mount Vernon College in Washington, D.C., now part of George Washington University.

Pam Smith - Development and Community Relations Officer

Pam is a member of Caron’s development team, responsible for special events, donor cultivation and stewardship.  She works with volunteers and assists Patrick Feeley and Joe Lauginiger with development and event planning primarily in Berks County. Pam manages the annual Berks County Richard J. Caron Award of Excellence Dinner. Pam holds a bachelor's degree from Kutztown University.

Maggie Mosser - Executive Assistant of Development

Maggie provides administrative support to Pat Feeley, Executive Vice President/Chief Development Officer, and the Development Team. In addition, she processes and records all charitable gifts made to Caron. Maggie is the contact for anyone looking to make sure his or her gift to Caron was received, if an individual would like to check the status of a current pledge, or if someone needs a receipt of his or her donation.

Karen DeLong - Research and Prospect Management Coordinator

Karen joined Caron’s development team in 2002 and supports the fundraising team in a variety of areas.  Karen works with alumni, family and friends who are interested in supporting Caron’s mission by becoming a Caron Crusader and developing a community fundraising web page.  The community fundraising web pages are a way to recognize, honor or remember a loved one or to support a specific program or fund.    Karen holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo.

Donna Weller - Database Coordinator/Annual Giving Assistant

Donna contributes to Caron’s fundraising success through management of the donor database.  She is responsible for the training and support of all users, and is the primary resource for reports and contact lists.  In addition, Donna assists the director of Annual Giving as project manager for the direct mail and calling programs.
