For Families of Adolesents

Caron believes it is imperative to engage an individual’s family from the onset of treatment. We put a major emphasis on treating the family as part of the treatment and recovery process.

Family involvement in treatment is vital for an adolescent’s long-term recovery, particularly because the entire family has been impacted by the disease of addiction. During the course of an adolescent’s stay at Caron, it is critical for parents and other appropriate family members to attend Caron’s Adolescent Family Program.

The Family Program, which runs Saturday-Tuesday, helps families and adolescents understand the emotional consequences of addiction, the recovery process, and how families play an integral role in that process.

The Family Component in Adolescent Extended Care

The family component in adolescent extended care consists of weekly sessions with the adolescent’s addiction counselor, and once a month a full-day of multi-family group sessions. Family treatment helps the families and patients understand the emotional consequences and the impact addiction has placed upon the family system.
