Mr. Tieman has been the President and CEO of Caron Treatment Centers since 1995. Under Mr. Tieman's direction, Caron has taken leadership roles in treating addiction in young adults and adolescents, sponsoring research, and participating in national conferences on addiction and recovery. Caron has developed, and provides, gender-separate and gender-specific treatment in both its adolescent and adult programs, from primary through extended care. He also established regional centers in Philadelphia, PA, New York, Boca Raton, FL, Dallas, TX and Bermuda. Since Mr. Tieman joined Caron, its revenue has grown more than six-fold.
Mr. Tieman is a strong advocate for both research and prevention. Caron participates in studies with leading research universities including the University of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson University, Brown University, and Treatment Research Institute, and conducts on-campus training for physicians and other health care professionals. Caron's Student Assistance Professionals work on alcohol and drug prevention in 250 school districts along the east coast.
Mr. Tieman has spent more than 25 years in the addiction treatment field in treatment center and industry leadership positions. He began his career with the Hazelden Foundation, and has served as Chairman of the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers, a member of the American College of Addiction Treatment Administrators and a Board Member of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence. He has also made a practice of visiting treatment centers across the U.S., in an effort to foster a sense of community and the exchange of information and ideas.
Following undergraduate degrees from both Concordia and Northwood Universitites, Mr. Tieman completed the Minnesota Management Institute at the University of Minnesota, and received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws degree from Concordia University. He is the recipient of several awards, including the Berks County Chamber of Commerce "Large Business Persona of the Year" Award in 2004, and Eastern Pennsylvania Business Journal's "Spotlight Award" in 2005.
Kristine Bashore

Ms. Bashore oversees recruiting, retention, compensation, training, and benefits programs for more than 500 Caron employees. She also plays a leading role in improving employee retention and developing training programs at Caron.
Since joining Caron in 2000, Ms. Bashore has overseen the expansion of staff from 265 to 500 employees. During her tenure, Caron's retention rate dramatically improved by more than 15 percent. She continues to cultivate employee commitment to Caron. Most recently, she developed and facilitated an innovative training program to highlight corporate values, called "Spirit of Recovery."
Ms. Bashore implemented the Caron College, masters and associate level programs that foster staff development by making university degree programs accessible on campus. She introduced a formalized wellness program that has directly benefited the nonprofit by reducing health care costs.
Over the past six years, Ms. Bashore was the project leader of The Women's Symposium, a successful joint conference on women and addiction organized by Caron and The Betty Ford Center. The conference, held twice a year in Philadelphia and Rancho Mirago, California, achieved a record attendance in 2008.
Prior to joining Caron, Ms. Bashore held a Human Resources senior management position at a Pharmaceutical Development company in Allentown. She started her career at Meridian Bank.
She holds a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification from The Society of Human Resource Management and a Bachelor's Degree from East Stroudsburg University, majoring in Economics.
Michael S. Early

Chief Clinical Officer
Mr. Early oversees Caron's comprehensive continuum of care. His career spans more than 35 years in the field of chemical dependency treatment.
Mr. Early manages the development and implementation of Caron's treatment programs.
His expertise includes 12-step facilitation, integrating a multi-disciplinary team, intervention strategies and case management for long-term recovery.
In 2009, Mr. Early's journey from addiction to recovery more than three decades ago was featured in the book, Moments of Clarity: Voices From the Front Lines of Addiction and Recovery by Christopher Kennedy Lawford.
Prior to joining Caron in May 2001, he served as Manager of Continuum Services at the Hazelden Foundation from 1989 to 2001 and as Director of Prevention and Intervention Services and Coordinator of Alcohol - Drug Abuse Services at St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond, Wisconsin from 1974 to 1989. He has held a variety of leadership roles within state and national certification and training programs.
Mr. Early holds a BA in Human Services Management. He is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor III and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Professional.

Sid Goodman, MA, LMHC, founded Palm Beach County's first extended care program in 1984. Formerly director of Core Services for the local community mental health center, Sid has considerable expertise in both chemical dependency and psychiatric treatment. Sid's interest in alternative forms of treatment led to expansion, including the development of structured outpatient programs in chemical dependency, co-dependency, and eating disorders. He is credited as a pioneer of the “Florida Model” in the field of addiction – and is considered one of the industry’s most successful and innovative icons. As the executive director of Caron Renaissance, Sid presents high quality, ethical, innovative treatment in a cost-and-time effective manner.
Joseph Lauginiger, Jr.

Mr. Lauginiger has over 35 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector. He began his career with the professional service of the Boy Scouts of America in 1973 where he spent fourteen years. In 1987 Mr. Lauginiger joined the Richard J. Caron Foundation, an internationally recognized not-for-profit provider of chemical dependency treatment services.
Currently, he is the Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer at Caron where his responsibilities include development (fundraising), alumni relations, student assistance programs and management oversight of regional offices in Bermuda, Boston, D.C., New York City and Philadelphia. A member of the President’s leadership team Mr. Lauginiger manages a staff of 10 and is responsible for a development department that generates in excess of $7 million dollars annually.
Throughout his fund raising career, Mr. Lauginiger has conducted numerous successful capital campaigns and was the chief architect of Caron’s 50th Anniversary Campaign “A Special Place…A Special Time” that raised over $50 million – the most successful fundraising campaign in Caron’s history.
In addition, he started Caron’s Award of Excellence Dinner in Reading, Pennsylvania in 1991. Since its inception this event has generated in excess of $5 million dollars in charitable support. The success of this event has served as the catalyst for similar events in Bermuda, New York City, Philadelphia and Palm Beach, Florida. Mr. Lauginiger also assisted ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) in the establishment of the Ruth Fox Memorial Endowment.
As Caron’s Interim President in 1994, Mr. Lauginiger opened the Foundation’s New York City Regional Office in Manhattan.
Mr. Lauginiger is a founding member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of AFP (Association of Fund Raising Professionals) and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Bloomsburg State College and an MBA from Alvernia College.
Active in his community, Mr. Lauginiger is a member of the Hawk Mountain Council, Boy Scouts of America, Board of Directors and a founding board member of Berks Talkline, a community outreach program for adults and adolescents.

Vice President of Administration
Mr. McClafferty is responsible for the overall operation and strategic direction of the Finance, IMS, and Facility functions within Caron by providing leadership and direction to the Corporate Directors in each of these departments. He also helps to plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization’s administration functions and performance, as well as directing and participating in special projects as requested.
Prior to joining the team at Caron, Mr. McClafferty served as Chief Financial Officer for thirteen years at Zuckerman-Honickman, Inc., a plastic and glass container distributor and spray bottle assembler located in King of Prussia, PA.
Mr. McClafferty received his Master of Business Administration in Finance Management from Saint Joseph’s University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He served on the Conrad Weiser School Board for six years, is involved in various school-affiliated activities, and enjoys running, golfing and skiing.
James McManus

Regional Vice President of Philadelphia
Mr. McManus currently serves as a Regional Vice President of Caron Treatment Centers. He is responsible for marketing Caron's programs and services to medical professionals and corporate employee assistance specialists as well as overseeing regional fundraising initiatives Philadelphia region.
During his tenure at Caron, Mr. McManus has helped raise nearly $2 million in addiction treatment scholarships from the Philadelphia region. He also contributed to the expansion of support services in the area for parents of Caron adolescent and young adult alumni.
Prior to joining Caron in 2002, he was a marketing and business development executive with the corporate lending department of Sovereign Bank in Philadelphia. Before his two-year association with Sovereign, he was the Senior Vice President of Programs and Membership at the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce from 1989 through 1999.
He joined the Chamber following a 16-year career at the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), the city's economic development agency.
Mr. McManus is currently on the board of PIDC and is chairman of its Audit Committee in addition to being a member of its Loan Committee. He also served as the chairman of the Philadelphia Authority for Industrial Development, an affiliated agency.
He is a member of the Council of President's Associates at his alma mater, La Salle University, and is the immediate past president of The Explorer Club, the athletic booster organization for the school. He received an MBA degree from Drexel University.
He resides in Philadelphia with his wife Peggy. They have three adult children and six grandchildren.

Dr. Ann Miller is a leading addiction industry professional with more than 25 years in the field. Dr. Miller has a unique background working in both the business and clinical sectors of health care. She has served as Executive Director at the International Institute for Alcoholism Education & Training, Executive Director of the Recovery Center in Moscow, Vice President in the Clinical Services Residential Division at CRC Health, and as a Chemical Dependency Counselor at Smithers Treatment Center. She received her Ph.D. in Addiction Studies from Columbia University in New York.

A member of Caron’s leadership team, Ms. Orlando directs all strategic planning, communications and marketing operations at Caron, including those at Caron’s satellite offices and Caron Renaissance in Palm Beach. She oversees the development of all marketing brochures and materials, public relations activities, business development activities and Caron’s website. She also oversees Caron’s Student Assistance Program.
During her five-year tenure at Caron, Ms. Orlando spearheaded the development of Caron’s website. She established a public relations department and led efforts on a groundbreaking study that generated interest from national media, educators, parents and health care professionals. She also has made critical contributions to Caron’s alumni communications, internal communications and business development strategy.
Ms. Orlando was the inaugural chairman of Caron’s Marketing Committee and also previously served on the Caron Executive Board. She has an extensive twenty-year background in marketing and public relations.
Her marketing experience began at Sovereign Bancorp, Inc. and continued for 16 years, last holding the positions of Executive to the President, Chief Marketing Officer and Corporate Spokesperson. She founded The MLO Group, Inc. (Reading, Pa.), a marketing company specializing in marketing and strategic planning, project management and event coordination, which she eventually sold.
She was a 2002 Eastern Pennsylvania Business Journal “Top 20 Under 40” Award recipient, a Berks County Chamber of Commerce ATHENA recipient and a “FORTY UNDER 40” award recipient. She also received the “Top 25 Women of Distinction Award” from the Greater Philadelphia Region, and was recognized as one of the “Top 10 People to Watch in Berks County” by the Reading Eagle.
Ms. Orlando holds a Bachelor’s Degree in marketing from Pennsylvania State University, a Master’s in marketing/finance from LaSalle University in Philadelphia and is currently a doctoral candidate for leadership at Alvernia University.

Andrew J. Rothermel is currently President of the Florida Market and EVP/Chief Operating Officer of Caron Treatment Centers. Mr. Rothermel has extensive financial, mergers, and acquisition experience with both closely held companies and publicly traded financial services companies. He also has executive management experience with both a financial services company and a manufacturing company.
Prior to joining Caron Mr. Rothermel served as Chief Executive Officer of Ever Green Coatings LLC, a closely held manufacturing firm in Reading, Pa.
Prior to joining Ever Green Mr. Rothermel served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Main Street Bancorp, Inc., a publicly traded, NASDAQ registered bank holding company based in Reading, Pa. In this position he was responsible for all legal and administrative functions of the corporation. He acted as the executive liaison to the Board of Directors on all corporate governance issues, managed the relationships with regulatory agencies, and actively participated in the company's strategic and financial planning process. In this position he managed the strategic acquisition and divestiture of assets and various subsidiaries of the company, as well as the sale of the company.
Prior to joining Main Street Mr. Rothermel practiced law with the Wyomissing, Pa. firm of Golden, Masano & Bradley. His practice was focused on issues facing closely held companies, and financial institutions. In this position he represented numerous closely held businesses in merger and acquisition transactions.
Mr. Rothermel is a graduate of the University of Richmond, Va. where he received a J.D. from the T.C. Willams School of Law, an M.B.A. from the Richard S. Reynolds Graduate School of Business, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the E. Claiborne Robbins School of Business.
Mr. Rothermel is actively involved in many professional and community organizations. He resides in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania.
Harris Stratyner, Ph.D.

Dr. Stratyner is the Vice President of New York Clinical Regional Services at Caron New York's Recovery Center. He is a renowned addiction and mental health treatment specialist with more than 27 years of experience. In addition to treating patients, he oversees the clinical staff and develops and implements workshops and programs for patients in recovery at Caron New York.
Dr. Stratyner developed the technique "Carefrontation," which combines the latest motivational engagement techniques and an environment of respect and dignity to stress individual responsibility to deal with one's addiction or mental health condition.
Dr. Stratyner currently holds positions as a Clinical Associate Professor at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and as a Vice Chair of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) Board of Directors. He is also a contributing author to the PDR Guide to Pediatric & Adolescent Mental Health (Published in 2009 by Thomson Reuters).
Before joining Caron, Dr. Stratyner held leadership and academic positions at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He was listed by the prestigious Castle Connelly almanac as one of the profession's leading specialists.
