Adolescent Assessment Program

Caron's Adolescent Assessment Program is typically a 5-10 day residential assessment program for adolescents 13-19 years old.

The program allows Caron to assess the teen at one location, which is free of outside influences such as peers and family conflict.  An assessment of this type done on an outpatient level would typically require several different providers and several months to complete; but through Caron’s full continuum of treatment services, we can provide this type of assessment in typically 5-10 days at our main campus in Wernersville, Pennsylvania.

Visit www.assessmyfamily.org to complete a confidential questionnaire on teen behaviors that may indicate a chemical dependency.

The assessment is conducted in a safe and controlled environment with a team of Caron professionals working together to help the teen.  The following testing is available based upon clinical need:

  • Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children or Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-III
  • Personality Assessment Inventory-Adolescent
  • Wechsler Memory Scale-III
  • Bender II
  • Wisconsin Card Sort
  • Trails
  • Delis-Kaplan Executive Function System

(these tests will be utilized based on each patient's individual needs; not all patients will be given each test)

At the conclusion of the assessment, the family, as well as other providers (interventionists, psychologists, etc.) will review a verbal summary report specific to their teen.  The report will include results of the psychological evaluation, as well as a history and physical.  The psychologist who oversaw the teen’s testing, along with the teen’s therapist, will meet with the family to review the results, answer questions and make a recommendation for the appropriate care or treatment.
